Self-Management Skills Training
When a person has persistent pain, anxiety, depression or another chronic health concern, they often have difficulty participating in daily tasks. Sleep, cognition, energy and relationships can also be impacted. The use of self-management skills is effective at improving function in all of these areas and often result in decreased symptoms.
Treatment could involve self-monitoring and activity scheduling, routine development, resilience development, mindfulness and self-compassion, compensation for executive skills challenges, exposure therapy or exposure and response prevention (in person only), coaching on the application of psychological coping strategies, and increasing tolerances for return to work.
